DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I was looking for a device such as the Snore Stopper because I was desperate to resolve my embarrassing snoring problem. I had decided to tape record myself as I sleep with a VOX to find out the extent of the problem. Well, I was shocked to hear myself making the most god-awful sounds, including grunts, snorts, and toots. I had to put a stop to it. This device was the best I could find on the net. However, I read the reviews and you can see they are mostly unfavorable. I was hoping I would get a good one in spite of the bad reviews. I was hoping the reviews were skewed because mostly disappointed customers might be giving the reviews. So I went ahead and purchased one.
The first two days it worked perfectly. I had it on the lowest setting. My tape recorder witnessed almost no snoring. And I was elated. But, sadly, it would not work correctly after that. I was very careful with the electrodes, but over the days ahead when I woke up I would find them not in their right place, or were rolled up/bunched up. I had always put it on carefully and snuggly. (I have to say the electrodes are nasty looking and feel nasty too!) Why couldn’t they design the unit so that you would not need to utilize them, like those dog collars that zap dogs when they are not doing the right thing?
Anyway, the Snore Stopper did not do its job as evidenced by the tape recorder, so I increased the strength of the zapping. Over the next several nights it either would not zap at all, or it would randomly zap me for no reason. (You see, it would wake me up, and suspecting something wasn’t right, I listened to the tape recorder to see if I had snored, and I hadn’t.) It kept waking me up the last two nights I wore it so I had had enough.
This product is a complete failure. Don’t waste your time and money.
But I will say that just using the tape has proven to be helpful in training myself to not snore. Sixteen years ago I had successfully trained myself in a couple of weeks. I don’t know how long it lasted because I did not follow up on it after a few months of monitoring. These last few months I did not have the great success I had before and I suspect it’s due to gaining about 20 lbs. Now I am working on reducing my weight and suggesting to myself that I do not snore, backed up with the use of the VOX tape recorder. So far the snoring has gotten better by cutting it down to half some nights; 2/3 other nights, and to just a few minutes still other nights. If I succeed in stopping the snoring entirely I will let you know.
Update 3/8/09
Good news! I have mastered my snoring. I lost ten lbs. I don’t think this had much to do with it, though. I am using an expensive tape recorder ($130) because the cheaper ones are not as sensitive to sound and don’t work. I tested and adjusted the level (volume) so that it would be sensitive enough to hear any sounds I make, but not so sensitive that it starts recording for no reason. I push the button of the indicator (to zero it out) that tells how long the tape has been going and press record VOX. This way I know every little sound I make as I sleep. Then, in the morning I look to see how much tape was used, by looking at the indicator, and I can figure out how many minutes I snored through the night. I don’t have to listen to it. For the last 2 months I have gotten it down to no snoring, or if so, just a few minutes, like 5 or 10. I have trained myself. I still set it up every night anyway just to make sure I don’t slide back into bad habits.
There are no really good options out there besides this as far as I know. Surgery is scary and not guaranteed. Hope this helps in your decision-making. Good luck.

Absolutely useless
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
You must wonder why they put so much effort in creating a real product that works so badly. The principle is valid, yet even when I taped the device on my forehead with tape, would barely recognize three snores in a row. If you wear it on your wrist, forget it, unless you have your hand in front of your face when you are sleeping. The device is suppsed to emit this light electrical discharge/stimulation which you barely notice at the highest setting if you are asleep. How about a vibration instead?
The device is a ripoff and absolutely useless, and the fact that you have to replace those pads for proper functioning is just poor planning/design and execution, aimed at ripping more money from consumers. Stay away from this product, and buy an oximeter instead

Great so far
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
My husband has been using the Snore Stopper for almost two weeks. The first night I wasn’t very impressed and saw no difference in the snoring. He had it turned down pretty low. Since then, he has it on a very high setting and it’s been wonderful. The only time I might hear light snoring is if I’m already awake. He says he doesn’t feel it at all during the night. I’m just wondering how many of those negative reviews might come from people who have sleep apnea. I have heard that the Snore Stopper does not work if you have that. My husband was tested for that and does not have it and the Snore Stopper is working great for him.

still snoring
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The first night it worked great for my spouse getting a good night sleep, because I kept getting zapped and didn’t sleep much. Willing to try and learn to stop snoring I wore it the next night and it didn’t work. I tried new batteries, contacted costumer service, never worked again. So I returned it.

It’s a miracle!

My husband’s snoring was fierce! We had tried the strips, sprays, pillows, tennis balls—everything! Our doctor told us his condition couldn’t be corrected with surgery. When it was at it’s worse, he would sleep on the opposite side of the house, on another level, with closed doors and I still could hear him. We bought this without having high hopes. It actually worked!! We were amazed! I recommend this to anyone who has a snoring spouse!

This device may kill you
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Loud snoring, especially when punctuated with sudden snorts is a clear indication of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, a potentially deadly heath condition. The snoring occurs because as you fall into deep sleep, the muscles in the neck and throat relax and allow various narrow air passages to collapse and totally block you air intake. Your brain then recognizes an increase in blood carbon dioxide and signals to wake you up, often with a startling snort. You then fall back asleep and repeat the cycle. You never get restful deep sleep and suffer the consequential health problems.
This device makes sure you never get the sleep you need, if it works at all for you. This device will compound your health problem or kill you. You are much better off to see a doctor. OSA is a serious health problem that is not help by this poorly conceived device.

Questionable quality
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This thing works! At least it did for a week, then it just died. My wife said my snoring was gradually decreasing and I felt better every morning.
So, I sent it back for a replacement, which Amazon promptly and courteously process, and when it arrived, it tested okay, but wouldn’t respond to snores, nor any sounds in fact.
I was disappointed and asked for another replacement, but Amazon said 2 was enough and just gave me a refund.
This could possibly be a great product, if only it were more reliable and durable.

Have only used it for a couple of days, but so far it seems to work. For the first time in months I’m not waking her up in the middle of the night with my snoring.

Still Snoring
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I received the Snore Stopper and I think it was starting to work. My husband said I didn’t seem to be snoring as much and less all the time. Then the electrodes must have worn out. Changed them and it has not worked since. We checked the batteries and they are good. So I feel that a product should last longer than a month. Emailed the company and they said “change batteries and electrodes” which I had already done and I told them and it didn’t work. I don’t think they are willing to replace it so I am out money. I don’t know what to do next.

I didn’t think this will work at first. Without saying a word to my wife, the first few night using it was very strange. I don’t know if I sleep more or less. But believe me, she was very please with the result.
Now she will ask me to put it on every night.
It give a little shock and stopper me from Snoring. The bad things is when my baby cry at night….. I get shock too.

Does not work
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
My husband keeps track of my snoring, so I purchased the Snore Stopper in hopes he would get a good night’s sleep. The first time I used it he said it did not completely stop my snoring. Subsequent nights were even less effective. After 4 weeks, we gave up as there was no improvement. At no time – during sleep – was I aware of the electric ‘zap’, even tho it tested strongly. So, either it never worked (and the first night’s partial relief was pychological) or it rapidly lost it’s ability to disturb my sleep enough to cause me to change positions. I absolutely do not recommend this product. I feel it was a complete waste of money…but if you really want one, I’ll be glad to sell you mine at half price.

Snore Stopper Stops Snores & Sleep
. Hopefully one gets trained by this gaget to not snore as much, but that remains to be determined.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Basically, this product works as advertized. In fact, I am amazed that they can pack that much functionality into a wrist-worn package. I try to avoid wearing it, because the wrist band is annoying, but when the Spouse insists, I put it on, and it does jolt me when I get too noisy. For me this happens maybe two or three times a night. Of course that is when I am sleeping most deeply
I feel that I have gotten my money’s worth in terms of reduced spousal aggrivation. The only “design” issue I have with the “Snore Stopper” is the control dial. It is tiny, impossible to read in the reduced light of a darkened bedroom, and with no detents (except for OFF). If I had to redesign it, that would be high on my list. So I set it once, before putting it on my wrist, and try not to mess with it afterward.
Altogether, I am satisfied with my purchase.

HealthCare Snore Stopper
This is exactly the same as the higher priced Snore Stopper, which is what I bought first.
According to my wife, it really worked well for a while – - much less snoring on my part.
But then the device stopped working properly, shocking me randomly when I was making no noise.
So I bought this less expensive version, and again it worked for awhile before becoming random.
THEN I replaced the battery even though the device did not indicate it needed replacing and then the device began to work properly again.
So 1) Do not loose the tiny phillips screwdriver that is needed to change the battery! I terribly irritating design flaw.
2) Change batteries the first time you notice it shocking you without cause (random shocks).
3) I’m still not 100% certain it works for stopping my snoring, but it’s well worth a try. You can adjust the shock intensity to the level you want – - it doesn’t have to fully wake you up. Or it can if you want!

YES! it works and my wife wont let me sleep without it.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
It monitors the volume of my snoring and when it gets too loud, i get the mild tingling. my wife swears by this device. Seriously, I am not allowed to sleep without it.
It is a mild stimulation that tells me that i am snoring. It does not wake me up, but i do roll over and stop snoring. This is the key to the device. It will alert to snoring so you can reposition your body. there is a setting for the degree of stimulation will allow for your proper comfort.
The product says it will be behavior modification and you will learn not to snore. The behavior modification has not happened yet. I am considering ordering a second one in case anything happens to the first one.

It Works Great for Me
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The review is below. I’ve had the product for nine months. Here are some items that will help:
- It won’t work every time. You will still wake your spouse on occasion. Maybe the snore is a different frequency. I don’t know. I’m not a sound engineer.
- Keep your arm ABOVE the blanket. It may still work but won’t be as effective
- Don’t use the adhesive pads. They reduce the shock. I moisten the two rubber pads on the device (Not the adhesive ones) and attach the device to the underside of the arm
- Find a nerve in your arm to set it on. You WILL know when you hit one. Move it around until you find one. Keep hitting the test button. Crank it up. There has to be enough pain/discomfort to wake you out of a few levels of REM sleep otherwise it won’t work.
Nothing else has worked for me. Apparently I inherited my father’s ability to bring down satellites with a snore. Without this device I wouldn’t be able to sleep in the same home with other humans.
Here is the original review:
The most important measure of a product is whether it works or not and this product works. However, there are some caveats. The pads are expensive. I have discovered they are not conductive pads, they are attenuation pads. Therefore you may be able to find something else that works to reduce the shock. Without the pads this thing will shock enough to bring back the dead. The next caveat is that the product has to hear the user snoring before it can react. Logical, right? That means the user can still wake up the person next to them in the bed with a short snoring burst or several short burst over a few minutes. However they are short bursts. The shock does work. The product does work. It’s not that uncomfortable. I keep thinking, “Why do I have my watch on” and then I remember. I like the eight hour time limit which extends the battery life. A previous reviewer is incorrect…when the device “fires” the green light blinks rapidly. Possibly her husband’s arm is not in a position for her to view it. I also like the test button which helps me position the device. A suggestion: The underside of the arm is more sensitive so may work better. However it may also end up facing down which would hurt the reception. Your mileage may vary.
I have used it for six months and I am snoring less. I can still drive my wife out of the room. Maybe the device is under the covers at the time. I don’t know.
The pads last a few weeks but as I indicated you can try other items. I’ve been using mine without the pads with the dial turned all the way down.
I have to go…one of my golden retrievers is snoring.

Unbelievable! Stay Away!! Pay your copay at your MD’s office instead
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Please stay away from this product. It’s a gimic that you would see on late night T.V. and is a waste of your money. As previous reviewes mentioned, loud snoring is indicitave of more severe problems and should not be taken lightly. OSA can cause high blood pressure, memory problems and sexual disfunction along with numerous and more severe issues if left untreated. If you have a problem enough to purchase this product or even consider it then that’s enough clue to see a doctor…it could save your life!

Sleep Apnea stopper?
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
WOW, less than 33 bucks for a way to better fragment sleep! If you snore, it’s indicative of a problem. No spray, pill, or glorified dog collar is going to stop this. See a doctor and let the doctor know you have sleep problems. People that snore are 30% more likely to have a stroke. It can also be an indication of a more serious problem called Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome. Ask your spouse/partner if you stop breathing or your breathing pauses during sleep and let your doctor know if this is the case!
